From Service Dog to Surfing for Charity Dog

Posted by Ihor Cap
Here is a very special video for all you dog lovers out there. There is a lesson to learn from this very endearing video about a golden retriever named Ricochet. Many parents tend to “promote” certain careers for children and even help them financially to ensure they finish what they started. While parents may have good intentions, in the end, they may be distressed to learn that their children want to pursue something else in life that is quite different from what they had in mind. Remember, your children may be better-off pursuing other honest to goodness work to earn a living if that is what they enjoy doing and if they are happier for it.
Please, consider Ricochet who started out as a service dog and who found her true vocational calling in life as a “Charity Surfer” once she gained her independence and the freedom to choose. God Bless all the animals that live amongst us. They provide us with company and sometimes laughter too. So, be kind to our furry friends and let us all be a little bit more compassionate and understanding with our children and let them choose their own vocation(s) in life.

Here is what some of the 6 million plus viewers had to say about this video
From Lonefullwood: “Thank you for this BEAUTIFUL video and... Let us not forget God created the animals before us...God Bless this darling dog... "
From Lindarayburn: “How AMAZING is this precious 4 legged little baby to bring such joy and hope to others. This is just an amazing video. Thanks for this, from Oklahoma."
From docchat who originally posted this video on November 17, 2009: “Surf dog Ricochet's inspirational video highlighting her journey from birth, to service dog training, to dog surfing, to surfing tandem with quadriplegic surfer, Patrick Ivison, to fundraising for charitable causes. “
